IR-EMPOWER 2026: the programme

The second IR-EMPOWER workshop on infrared emissivity measurement opens on Monday 28 September at the Center for Applied Energy Research (CAE) in Würzburg. About forty participants will hear 21 talks over two days.

• Plenaries. Iñigo González de Arrieta (UPV/EHU) opens with the upgraded emissivity setup of the group that founded the series. Benoît Rousseau (LTeN-CNRS) opens day two with multi-scale modelling of the spectral emissivity of SiC-based architectured ceramics.
• Metrology and high temperature. PTB, LNE, CEMHTI-CNRS, the JRC, CAE and UVA, including pulse heating up to 3000 °C and emissivity up to 4000 °C.
• Applications. Additive manufacturing (THWS, BAM, ZČU), construction materials (CSIC), spacecraft thermal materials (UNT) and cryogenic absorptivity (ISI CAS).
• Data and comparison. A multi-laboratory emittance comparison (INO-CNR) and the EKHI open database (UPV/EHU).

Monday includes a tour of the CAE laboratories and the first poster session. Tuesday closes with a round table on how the community should grow, covering intercomparisons, a newsletter, working groups and the future of the series, followed by the Young Speaker Award.
